Lord, in Christ you have spared us from your wrath. Please, may many see that we have spurned your love and grace to us and expressed that in all kinds of perverse and self-glorifying ways. But you have opened our eyes to our state and we fall on our face before you, we quail before your fierce justice. Our souls are broken before you, knowing that we shall rightly return to dust. We can do nothing but look to your mercy, and this we have so abundantly in Christ. May we ever cling to the one who knew no sin but became sin for us, who bore your full wrath, crushed to the dust of death, yet who rose, vindicated and victorious in life everlasting.
Amen
