Gracious Lord, thank you that you are not ignorant or blind to injustice and human cruelty. We look around and see the way that people have and still are treating each other, and grieve over these horrors. We take comfort and hope in the promise of your intervention, that wickedness will be swept away for good, that the guilty will not go unpunished. Lord, we look to this from the perspective of our own brokenness and sin as well. Help us to see the injustices that have come from our own hearts – warn us Lord, and turn us from it by your grace. We tremble and grieve over our sin. Please forgive us Father. Give us joy in the gospel – teach our hearts to know that you are good, a stronghold in the day of distress, that you care for all who take refuge in you.
Amen
