Heavenly Father, I ask that we will not be daunted by the wrestle that we have with sin. Sin, although defeated, damned and done away with in Christ, still seems to have some afterglow in our flesh, and at times seems more like a mortally wounded beast. Cornered by the good law of God in our hearts, it savagely flares up against it. We do what we hate, sin mauling our thoughts and actions. Lord, may this make us ever the more thankful for Christ, through whom we stand forgiven and have deliverance. We look forward to the last day when every last vapour and smell of sin will be blown away by the revitalising Spirit of God. Help us to apply ourselves to the wrestle by his strength until then.
Amen.
